Volkswagen Plant Expansion

Chattanooga, TN

The design-build project included the addition of both a 200,000-square-foot battery assembly facility and a 575,000-square-foot body shop at the Tennessee plant for the purpose of increasing overall production of Volkswagen's electric vehicle (EV). The VW-Chattanooga location is VW's North American hub for EV manufacturing. The AC system serving this facility was over 1,700 tons and utilized packaged rooftop units for cooling and humidity control. A weld exhaust system was designed and installed to capture contaminants from the airstream. Process piping systems included natural gas, compressed air, weld water, argon, and cargon.
