Organic Herbs Vertical Indoor Grow Farm

Anderson, South Carolina

This 100,000-square-foot organic vertical indoor farm sits on a 10+ acre site. Within the facility, 15,000 square feet is programmed for refrigerated rooms for cold storage of harvested and packaged product. Over 70,000 square feet are programmed for harvesting, multi-level indoor grow areas, germination, seed storage, and soil storage. The facility includes administrative office spaces that accommodate up to 100 employees. NDBS is providing mechanical design and installation for this facility for the central heating and cooling systems which include primary air and hydronic heating. Plumbing design services are also being provided for the client to competitively bid on installation. This project is a prototype facility that was originally designed to be rolled out on multiple sites throughout the United States and this is the second site. Indoor racking with limited headroom within the grow space impedes distributed utilities and air distribution. We provided detailed design and vetted numerous approaches for duct air distribution to minimize micro-climates and or temperature gradients.
