Ghirardelli Chocolate

Tracy, CA

NDBS engineered HVAC and refrigeration systems as part of a new LEED Silver storage packaging facility for Lindt Chocolate in Tracy, California. The 700,000-square-foot building includes 582,000 square feet of 58°F storage and packaging warehouse space, 100,000 square feet of 41°F refrigerated warehouse space, and an 18,000-square-foot office. In addition to engineering, NDBS installed the HVAC and refrigeration systems. In order to achieve LEED Silver, the air rotation units throughout the warehouse are served by an efficient, water-cooled, chilled-water plant consisting of 650 tons of water-cooled chillers and open cell cooling towers. The packaging area ventilation is introduced using roof-mounted energy recovery units. The refrigerated warehouse is served by evaporators connected to a water-cooled compressor rack and desiccant dehumidifiers for moisture control.
